July 22th, 2009. The piano recital with the Stravinsky and Rachmaninov's sonatas  in "San Lorenzo de El Escorial - Spain" was full - usually we should say "sold out" - and was received widespread applause during the concert and at the end. Alberto Cobo offered a tip on which many people asked what melody was that so beautiful: an arrangement for piano of the XXIII variation of the Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini for piano and orchestra by Rachmaninoff - the most known tune of the composer-. Between the numerous congratulations he got that of the councilman of culture, José Antonio Vara.

June 18th, 2009 - Professor Włodzimierz Krżyewski, disciple of the deceased pianist Jorge Wasiak (Warsaw, letter of April 7, 2009): "I was admiring you in Warsaw when you touched with the Polish Radio National Symphony... very beautiful composition yours of the eminent master Mr. Manuel de Falla. This is your following success ... Brave!

You have performed pacifically, very determined and the big-discreet piano has always corresponded in everything with the orchestra enriching the colours of the sounds, which have flown to our ears filling it with great pleasure. All our professors appreciate the modest maestro."

Biography

The pianist and composer from Madrid, Alberto Cobo continues to captivate on the international stage dating back to the year 2000 through his many piano recordings ( for example www.superopera.com ) and concerts with orchestras and live recitals.   His piano expertise always gives his audiences a wonderful and an intimate experience inside the setting of "a full house".   He has received congratulations and praises from many venues around the world, in despite of the fact that he is not considered a “major” musician.

Alberto’s teachers have included Carmen Requena, Antonio Carreras, María Teresa Fúster, Anselmo de la Campa, Manuel Carra and finally Isidro Barrio. He furthered studied virtuosity under the advice of Heliza Hansen and Rosalyn Türeck.

Inside his field of music, he attained all the educational points.  He earned the status of Professor of Music with a specialty in piano from the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music.  He also worked as a musicologist investigator with critics’ international editions,  and as a composer.

Cobo recorded on Classical Radio of RNE (Spain), productions and on collaborations with German radio stations such as Süddeutsche (Karlsruhe) and Bayerische Rundfunk (München), as well as on diverse record labels like Universal Classics & Jazz, a division of Universal Music GMBH, KOCH International, Das Beste von Reader' s Digest, Bella Musica/Antes, Dial inc., etc.

In addition to his performances with classical music, he has always enjoyed great public expectations to fill the concert halls.  One is reminded of his last performance as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Polish National Radio in Warsaw with placards covering the city. His activities also include musicology and composition in critical editions published by the ICCMU, two operatic discoveries of importance and related to Spanish history, several collections of albums/CD’s, and scores or books both of his own compositions,  and works by other composers.
